Perch is a performance collective based in Chennai, formed by enthusiasts who want to push the 'creative' envelope using theatre, film, music, art and other forms of creative expression...

Our members are from diverse backgrounds such as theatre, design, architecture, film making, radio, and journalism.

The idea of Perch came into being in 2006 when it organised a fortnight long festival called 'Angloscapes' that focused on the Anglo-Indian community and included a play, a food festival, film screenings, a photo exhibition and a music concert. Perch was formally registered as a society in 2008. Its first event as a registered body was an ambitious three week long festival called 'Under the Mangosteen Tree' to commemorate the centenary year of the great Malayalam writer Vaikom Muhammad Basheer in January 2008.

We continue to engage and experiment with new ideas to cross boundaries, reach new audiences, and seek out alternative performance spaces, while creating work that is relevant to the times that we live in. We also look forward to building lasting relationships with our collaborators, sponsors as well as the community.
